MetalCloak RockSport BLACK – Front Shock Absorbers with Remote Reservoir (Jeep Wrangler JK 2007–2018)
RockSport BLACK is a set of MetalCloak front shock absorbers with a remote reservoir and compression adjustment. This is the solution for the Jeep JK when you want greater control over suspension performance both off-road and on the road, along with the ability to quickly “tune” the suspension without replacing parts.
The large 2.5″ body and robust construction are designed for heavy-duty use: long off-road stretches, heavier loads, and higher shock absorber operating temperatures.

Shock Absorber Type
Remote reservoir + compression adjustment
Quick Facts
Extended 28.7″ • Collapsed 17.4″ • Travel 11.3″
Key Benefits
• 8-stage compression adjustment – easily tailor damping to terrain, load, and driving style.
• External reservoir – greater oil volume and more stable performance under prolonged load.
• Large 2.5″ body – designed for use in tougher conditions.
• Braided hydraulic hose – durable connection between the shock and the reservoir.
• Includes outboard lower mounts – designed for a large shock and axle sag geometry.

Design detail in the shock absorber end cap area (recessed cap) – shown in the manufacturer’s animation. Who it’s for / Applications
• For JK drivers who want damping adjustment “at their fingertips” (on-road comfort vs. off-road control).
• For vehicles used in rock crawling, overlanding, and mixed on-road/off-road driving.
• For setups with heavier loads or more intense driving, where stable shock absorber performance is essential.
Installation / Notes
• The shocks have a large diameter (2.5″)—before installation, check ground clearance and compatibility with your vehicle’s configuration.
• A wheel alignment check is recommended after suspension modifications.
• As a general guide: “easy” installation, no body modifications required, typically 1–2 hours (depending on the setup).
