RockSport Black reservoir shocks are specifically designed to work with MetalCloak’s True Dual-Rate springs. The degressive valve system provides excellent performance at both slow and fast suspension operating speeds.
The shocks are constructed from 2.5” diameter aluminum with 3/16” wall thickness, featuring ample fluid capacity for effective cooling and durability in all conditions—on the road and off-road.
The reservoir is connected to the shock absorber via a stainless steel braided hose rated for up to 3,000 psi, featuring a synthetic insert and optimized oil flow, which guarantees uninterrupted fluid flow.
A unique valve system with a parabolic design (patent application No. 63/743,954) offers a compact and simplified structure, eliminating the problems of conventional systems and enabling highly precise damping characteristics.
The overall design maximizes the use of the piston rod’s length and provides greater travel than other monotube shocks of similar dimensions—even the inner surfaces of the end caps have been machined to increase the range of motion.
The hard anodizing process (Type III Mil-Spec—clear) applied to the shock absorber piston protects it from wear caused by high-velocity fluid flow, ensuring long and reliable service life.
The 7/8” diameter piston rods are hard-chromed and induction-hardened to a Rockwell hardness of over 60 (C), which surpasses the durability of most competing products. They provide excellent protection against stone impacts and ensure a smooth surface for the seals and wiper rings to function properly.
A triple set of seals keeps the oil inside and prevents contaminants from entering. A removable bump cap protects the seal assembly from damage when fully compressed and allows easy access for shock absorber servicing.
A large, comfortable knob made of milled aluminum with laser-etched markings allows for easy adjustment—choose from 8 compression settings, each of which increases damping force by 15%. This lets you perfectly fine-tune the ride comfort for both off-road and everyday driving.
RockSport Black reservoir shocks are a premium-class product that offers adjustable damping force and allows you to tailor your Jeep’s suspension to any driving style—from technical rock crawling and overlanding to everyday driving and dynamic off-road adventures. 😉
Note: RockSport Black shocks are large, long-travel shocks with a 2.5” diameter. They are directly compatible with Jeeps featuring wide axles, such as the Rubicon or Max Tow. For models with standard-width axles, additional modifications may be required for proper installation—such as additional bump stops, rims with the correct offset, maintaining ground clearance around the brake calipers, etc. If you’re not sure how to check for compatibility or what type of axle your vehicle has, please contact us.
